The Arab
Election Law Compendium (AELC) presents
a collection of Arab election laws in Arabic
and either English or French. The compendium
addresses the neglected topic of electoral
systems in the Arab world. It serves as
a unique opportunity for those interested
in electoral processes in the Arab region
to easily access, compare and evaluate crucial
information on this increasingly important
subject. It includes full texts of laws,
background on the election process in ten
Arab countries and detailed analysis of
each law prepared by notable regional experts.
This initiative reflects IFES' commitment
to enriching the debate on electoral systems
across a region facing increased popular
demand for political liberalization.
The AELC
is also available in a CD-ROM featuring
a searchable database. Limited printed copies
are available for those institutions that
may lack Internet access.
